Aren’t police required to read me my
rights?
ANSWER: Many people believe that an
officer must automatically read a person his
or her Miranda rights as part of performing
an arrest, either immediately before or
immediately after an arrest is made. This is
a myth, the truth is that the only
time an officer must read a person his or
her Miranda rights is when: (1) the person
has been taken into custody, and (2) the
officer is about to question the person
about the crime. |

Do I have to register my
burglar alarm system with the police
department?
Town of Auburn By-Law requires all
Security Alarm Systems be registered with
the police department and information
relative to those systems be kept up to
date. The registration of the alarm is
the responsibility of the homeowner, tenant,
business proprietor and not that of the
security company. In part, you will need to
provide, the type of alarm in use, name and
phone number of your alarm company, and a
listing of emergency contacts. The police
department does not accept keys or alarm
codes to your home or business.
